1. Mike Strano â Co-Founder & COO, Yakwetu Online Ltd.
With over 25 years dedicated to exploring the creative industries of Africa, Mike has made a significant impact in East Africa's entertainment landscape since relocating from Australia in 1998. As the driving force behind PHAT! Music & Entertainment Ltd, Mike and his team built one of the most recognized entertainment companies in Africa, with ventures spanning media, event production, licensing, and industry development. PHAT! earned the prestigious Business Daily and KPMG Top 100 Mid-Sized Business award in 2016, marking it as the first creative industry company to be honored in Kenya.
In 2014, Mike co-founded Yakwetu⢠Online Ltd, an innovative platform with a mission to bring African-made content to African audiences and the diaspora. Leveraging proprietary Kenyan-made applications, Yakwetu offers a suite of digital services focused on distributing encrypted original titles, ensuring creators are fairly compensated. Envisioning an African parallel to platforms like Amazonâs Prime Video and Audible, Yakwetu is redefining home entertainment and edutainment for Africa.
2. Benaiah Wepundi â Founder & CEO, PaydHQ
Benaiah Wepundi is an entrepreneur focused on crafting innovative solutions for African markets with global impact. As the Founder and CEO of PaydHQ, he leads a fintech company dedicated to building a neobank tailored to the gig and digital economies across Africa. Benaiahâs expertise spans product design, business development, and growth strategy.
Before founding PaydHQ, he served as CTO and COO at Cyphon AI, a US-based AI agency working with freelancers across Africa and Latin America. Beyond his professional pursuits, Benaiah is passionate about travel, cinema, and gaming.
